Absa
Can't open up an investment account

Business & Finance

I have banked with Absa for more than 15 years. I worked for them an my current relationship manager was a direct report of mine so in terms of identification of who I am Absa should have no problems. I have a large sum of money in my cheque account and wanted it transferred to a fixed deposit or investment account of some sorts. Unfortunately I am on a working assignment abroad and cannot provide original signatures or documentation, but thought that in the world of e commerce I could complete the forms, scan it in and once the account was opened I could transact online to transfer my money to the investment account. Well seems opening up an account online is not that easy as the fulfilment still takes place through original copies. I can understand that if I was starting a new relationship with Absa, but I am not. Is there anyway you could make it easier for me, accept the scan docs, accept the email or is the original a legislative requirement?? Please help I cant spend money on the courier, unless you pick up the cost for that?
