I recently applied for a home loan with ABSA with whom I have been a long term client with (over 15 years)
I had my home loan (building loan - I am building a house) approved at only 80%. I in turn phoned ABSA telling them that I need a 90% home loan. According to their policy they only hand out 80% on their building loans.

Because they were not willing to budge I was forced to apply with FNB and Nedbank. Both of them gave me a building loan at 90%. Because of ABSAs stupid policy I am now forced to switch banks (move all my accounts over). I am moving away from a bank that I always liked and admired to a new bank which is more flexible than ABSA.
Perhaps they change their minds?
