Admitted mistakes, don't get fixed by Standardbank

The end of 2012 i opened a personal account at Standard bank Sandton, in addition to our well run business account. I was under the assumption all was in order with my account. To my surprise, and like thunder by clear blue sky, i received an SMS from a third party collection agency, with a demand for R9.000 or so. The account was closed and benefits were stopped.

Since Standard bank did not mail me a monthly statement to my post address, ...nor e mail me, ...nor SMS'ed me, ...nor gave me any curtesy calls about any outstanding monies, there was no way for me to know any money was due. Early Jan I took up contact with my business account manager Latsi who escalated the problem to a relevan manager. She told me that somehow i was listed in the system to collect statements at the counter, which i did not request, nor was made aware of at any time.

Unfortunately i can't settle the account, until such time as STB has rectified their mistakes and reinstated the account, since this mess would have been avoided, if STB mailed me statements, or at the very least gave me a curtesy call, before they handed me over. After 2 months their mistakes have yet to be rectified
