How long do we have to wait for an answer?

My son applied for a student loan at the Hatfield Branch, Pretoria on Feb 27, 2013. We did the application online at this branch. I signed as surety there and then, and was told that it would take 5 days for a reply. It is now more than 5 days, and we still don't have an answer. Please could you tell me how long do we have to wait for an answer?
