We deposited a cheque on 19/02/2013, requested special clearance on the cheque. Have been charged R95.00. The teller never told us that it takes 5 working days. Firstly the cheque deposited was a standard bank to standard bank cheque! We call the call centre and are told that we need to go to the branch that we done the deposit at. So we go Eastgate this morning and request assistance. The guy at the reception tells us we are not allowed to see the business banker! Told him that we would like to then see someone that can maybe assist us. The switchboard operator assists. She tries calling the teller team leaders, ( no one is available)! she then calls Chris who is apparently a manager and the same guy from the reception. Note not once they offered to check anything, just said sorry we cant help you! All we wanted was for assistance in getting a cheque cleared. I find this unacceptable as the cheque is from the same institution. Secondly it is something that we paid for. But we got told rather try and cancel the cheque and get a cash cheque. The cheque is from a reputable hotel for heavens sake. i hope to get some positive feedback!!!
