My son obtained a study loan from Standard Bank in 2012 and I am surity for this loan.
The initial amount granted was R60 000.00. we used about R40 000.00 during the course of the year leaving a balance of Roughly R20 000.00.
Before registration this year went in to the branch, checked the blance and was assured that the remainder is available for continued studies.
However, later when we needed it, we were told that we had to re-apply! (this makes no sense and seem wildly burocratic).
We had no documentation and was told to come in to re-apply when we have it.
On arrival to re apply we were first told that it is only done on line and a consultant can't do it for us! I expressed my dissatisfaction with this, only to then be told that they see we still have funds available and all that was required was proof of continued studies... we than waited 20mins for a consultant only to be told that the available balance will be taken away and we have to re apply on line!!!
I walked out and will never use this burocratic confused bank again! My time as well as my son's time was completely wasted!
Standard Bank is loosing young people, ...future big clients through this!
