Frustrated as no cash on a Sunday

Business & Finance

My mom is based in an old age home in Pinelands. I am currently overseas in the UK, and have signing power on her account, and manage her affairs from this side. Since she does not have transport, she relies on other people getting her to the shops, when they can. Today she was offered a lift to Howard Centre, to do her weekly shopping. When she arrived, she tried to draw R500 cash from the ATM. The slip advised that her card was faulty. She tried 3 times to draw cash. She then phoned me in the UK, to tell me she could not access her account due to lack of funds. I checked her balance and R580 was available. I normally ensure she has sufficient funds available so she can draw whenever she can get into town. Needless to say, this is both very frustrating for her to not have cash when she needs it and frustrating for me, as I am based in London UK, and cannot do anything to help her other than ensure funds are available. Please advise why she could not draw any funds today. Also, due to her being inconvenienced, please advise how ABSA will remedy the situation. Her time and the other person's petrol were wasted getting her to the shops.
