I had a credit card witch I paid in full a couple of years ago. They never marked it as paid in full. I then got listed for an unpaid account and for the service fees that the account accrued. I had to pay the outstanding fees and contact bank and Credit Bureau to have the situation sorted. Many phone calls to Standard Bank (branch, card dept., legal dept.) made it obvious that nobody really knew the status of this account. After much frustration a gentleman in the Legal dept. managed to give me a Paid Up letter. At the same time I was convinced to reactivate the account. It has now been 3 weeks. I have been to the branch twice (2 hours each time). I received 2 temp. cards (both of witch don't work), no call to advise when the proper card is ready for collection, just general unhappiness on my side.
On the other hand I applied for a Cheque acc. at Nedbank a few days ago. A consultant and a financial advisor came out to see me, and sorted all the docs. at my workplace. 5 working days for the cards and they will deliver to me. Fantastic service!!!
Standard Bank - never again. I regret reactivating my account!!!
