Standard Bank
Not moving forward

Business & Finance

My mother is currently living in a home that was repossessed by the Bank because the owner defaulted on payment. She rented the house from the owner and the owner defaulted on the payments to the bank. Her name is Goodie Evans and she was given first option to buy the house from the bank. The previous withdrew any claim on the house and the bank called her to sign the registration papers. She did not hear from them and called to find out why they were taking so long to register the bond. Only to be told that the house she was living in would be placed on Auction on 12 February 2013. Two days after her birthday. She has invested a substantial amount of money in the renovation of the house and now standard bank is conveniently putting the house on auction and is ignoring the contract that she signed with them. She is seeking legal counsel but is hoping that she will not have to go that route. No one wants to take responsibility for this mess that has been going on since last year September and she is on the verge of being homeless. Is this how Standard bank moves long standing customers forward? I have advised her to go to the media if this channel does not work
