I visited the Standard bank to obtain change. I have never used this facility and asked a guard who escorted me to the front of the line and instructed me to wait as teller 3 would be with me shortly. I did and when assisted asked her about the process to get change. As for customer service the lady started assisting me immediately. As the process started I asked her if this is in order and if I shouldn't go to the back of the line. This unfortunately started a whole disgusting chain of events from customers and tellers 1-2 who started with remarks and one of them that this is not 1994 and white people can not do whatever thy want. And unfortunately very unprofessionally the 2 Tellers had lots to say. And laugh about.
I myself am in the service industry and would never react this way to any customer. From the car guard to the professional gentleman or lady visiting my store. I will be making a personal complaint to Standard Bank on Monday. But I can guarantee that it will end up in file 13. It is a pity that the majority of people are still having issues with race. To the teller that assisted me, I say THANK YOU.
