On Friday my electricity was cut due to non-payment. I knew I had paid through EasyPay, so I went on the website to confirm my thoughts. According to the transaction history, I had not paid the account, but when I checked my bank statement, my account had in fact been debited with the amount.

I called the support line on the website, and the person who answered had no clue what to do. I explained that I had no electricity, my freezer was thawing out, and I needed EasyPay to sort out the mess with the Ethekwini Municipality before all out food went bad on the hottest day of the year so far. The person on the phone offered me a reference number and that was it.

On Saturday I still had no electricity and no phone call from EasyPay. I called their head office, and chatted to a disinterested person. He knew about my call, and said they were investigating. He confirmed that there was a mistake on their side, but rather than trying to help me, they wanted to figure out what was wrong with their system. Eventually I went to the municipality and paid the amount myself. Easypay has my money and still no response.

I am shocked, and will NEVER use EasyPay or recommend them to anyone!
