I recently went to this ABSA branch to put in notice for my 32 day account & asked if the money could be transferred to another account with another bank. The woman behind the queries counter told me I needed to bring in proof that the account belonged to me but it could be done. (I had previously been belittled by this woman for not wanting to change my account because of the charges it incurred). I returned the next day with proof & dealt with another lady next to the woman I'd previously spoken to. She told me that it couldn't be & done & that the money had to go into my current account. I asked why because of what I'd been told the day before & she got irritated and rudely repeated herself. Then she had the audacity to ask me which accounts I had at the other bank, which in my opinion has NOTHING to do with her. The men behind the teller desks seems to have a similar attitude when speaking to and dealing with clients. Perhaps it's the work environment but it seems ABSA is breeding a culture of employees who feel they may behave in this manner and degrade clients as and when they see fit. This is not the only branch where I've had this experience.
As such, I'm changing banks.
