MiWay
Unauthorised debit order... not happy

Business & Finance

I sent the following email to Miway on 23rd December 2013 after I was put on hold for 10 minutes and I still have had no response.

This is after no one had gotten back to me with a claim submitted on the 2nd November 2013 and a month later no one had contacted me with feedback. I only received an outcome after I threatened to cancel.

o Who authorised for a debit order to go off on the 20th December 2013 instead of the usual date of the 28th?
o I received an sms on the 21st notifying me that my December debit order will go off on the 20th "to ensure that I am covered from 28th December to 27th January 2014". And then immediately after an sms comes through stating that the debit order has gone off. Note that I received the sms the day AFTER the debit order was to go off. And this was the first time I was notified of this.
o What cover was my November payment meant to provide? Was it not to cover me until the end December (until my next debit order)?
o Must I not be notified in time if Miway is planning to debit before the agreed date? And was I not supposed to consent to this?
o Now, the debit order has returned unpaid... and I am liable for R120.00 in a bank charge. Is that fair?
