Policy surrende

I have an educational policy with metropolitan for my son and have recently contacted them at their ficksburg branch to surrender the policy. I filled in al the forms and submitted all the required additional documents and was told that the surrender amount will be paid in 48 hours, a week later i get a call from the lady who was assisting me telling me that they require the child's baptismal certificate. This is a document that was never mentioned when i filled the forms or even when i opened the policy. I think they jus want to rob me of my money. I asked why they need that and they said to verify who the child's parent is yet i am the child's parent who opened the policy with them in the first place, they have my id, my signature and everything, this did not matter when they debited my account every month.
