Bank takes cash without counting

I made my way to OR Tambo (from lenasia) to deposit a fairly large sum of money. Upon getting to the teller i was told that the money would not be counted-it would be put into a bag and processed the next day. A note that there was a money counting machine available @ the teller. Ive never heard of anything more ridiculous in my life. First of all what guarantee does the bank have that the amount of cash i leave with them is the actual amount and tomorrow when the cash is "processed" and theres a dispute on the amount-how is it resolved. If i state the amount is 100k but its actually 90k, then what? I wasted my petrol and my time to go and hear something as ridiculous as that! Also walked with so much of cash which i couldnt deposit. Utterly stunned and shocked that a bank in the 21st century operates in that way.
