Standard bank has ruined our lifes

My husband has been with Standard bank for more than 5 years now, and he had a car that was financed by standard bank and he has a standard bank account, The car was hijacked and the insurance payed but there was a 20 000 shortfall. for the 1st month he payed 10 000, the following month he payed 5 000, the 3rd month he payed 2000 and on the 4th month he didn't pay, to our surprise he was blacklisted for skipping one month, he never got a call of how they expected him to settle the amount, we just payed what we can afford and there seemed to be no problem. I am not sure how the things work because the 5th month we settle the amount, this append in September 2013 but to our surprise he is still blacklisted, he cant open any account, he cant buy a house, he cant even get a new car, So many times we go to bank to inquire but we keep getting different response. Can you please advice us on what we need to do because right now our lifes are on hold.
