I DEMAND TO CANCEL MY POLICY

I have been with miway for 3 years. After receiving their new policy schedule that advised that my insurance premium was going up I shopped around and found an alternative affordable insurer and asked miway to cancel my insurance.
I was put through to the retentions department who now after 3 years decide that they can bring my premiums down by almost R300. They all of a sudden want to go out of their way to beat the offer from the new insurer.
After reviewing their new policy schedule I decided to go with a competitive insurer who will insure me as off the 1st of November. Miway insists that i give them 1 month notice to cancel my insurance. This is short term insurance and I want out now.
I was never told that I will need to give a month's notice when I initially called to cancel.
Cancel my insurance and let me move on to a company that does not wait for me to leave before offering me competitive rates.
