I had a great experience yesterday 14/10/2013 switching my car insurance to Outsurance for a lower premium than my current cover. The conversation included 3 options for excess and I chose the middle amount. The policy document was subsequently issued. I had second thoughts about the excess, as the difference in premiums between the lowest excess and the higher amount that I chose was marginal. So today, 15/10/2013, I phoned OT to re-issue my cover on the lower excess. This was done quite pleasantly. Additionally and to my surprise, a death cover of R100 000 was added in as part of the total premium on the lower excess! Effectively, for a lower excess, I've received a lower premium and a death cover. This is awesome customer service! I have also noted that the premiums paid on the death cover would be refunded if no claim is made in 15 years!
