Absa
Poor reason for declining bond application

Business & Finance

After reading about "FurtherAdvance" on your website, we decided to apply for an additional amount on our bond in order to settle our car finance or some short term debt. Since purchasing our property, we have made major improvements so the value has increased. The reason we received for our application being declined is "Insufficient Cash flow to Service Loan". The additional bond amount would cost us about R1150 per month. On my salary alone, I have the disposable monthly income to afford this amount, nevermind my wife's salary. Furthermore, this additional bond amount would be used to settle our car finance which would allow a further R3700 per month of disposable income. This leads me to believe that either your credit department didn't read our application properly, or they were instructed to decline regardless of affordability (which in that case, why advertise a product on your website that you have no intention of actually following through with?)
