We registered our two sons in Merrified in 2008.There is a requirement that a parent deposits R24, 000 debenture for two children and R16 if its one child. My older son graduated and we wrere refunded R8, 000 leaving R16, 000 in the school as a deposit. My son has since left to go elsewhere and when we contacted the school to claim the R16, 000 we were told that we owed R1000 for school fees and will be deducted from the balance, BUT we are to forfeit the rest, because we did not give the school the 3 months notice which is a requirement if we withdraw our son from the school. Now, we did not withdraw the child but the child has completed Grade 7-and will be attending High School elsewhere. The school has Conditions of Acceptance which I signed, and in that document, where it is stated that the Debanture will be kept at the school until the child leaves the school, which is the case right now. The school is refusing to refund us, they say they will deduct 3 months school fess and we will be left with nothing but they will do a concession for us and give us R4, 869 and the school wiill keep R9, 704.00 and REALLY NOW.PLEASE HELP
