First National Bank
Such poor service

Business & Finance

I sold my home at the beginning of June. FNB was the bondholder and was duly given 3 months notice of my intention to cancel the bond. Purchasers were granted a 100% bond, also through FNB. Property and parties concerned all live in Johannesburg, however, after many weeks a firm of attorneys in Cape Town were instructed to cancel the bond. Outstanding balance on my bond, together with all legal fees, cost of clearance certificates etc was paid before the end of July. Transferring attorney has been ready since 23 Aug to lodge documents but Cape Town attorneys are not. Their authority to cancel eventually was received only on Tues 17 Sept but the documents were unsigned. STBB's Johannesburg branch not authorised to sign the documents. I tried to contact CEO of FNB Home Loans, without success. I phoned the Call Centre on Tuesday and was told a person in authority who was busy at that particular time, would phone me back immediately he was free. Till now, no such calls.

Clearance certificates are valid till 30 September - with this dragging of heels more expenses will seemingly have to be incurred in order to extend those. FNB's motto: HOW CAN WE HELP YOU, is a farce.
