I was informed by email on the 1st of September that my policy will no longer be with Santam, but Auto&General. The new premium was R200 MORE than I was currently paying AND they were not willing to come down with their price. I asked if I needed to pay anything at the end of September and the broker said NO!

I then went with another insurance company that could match my current premium and they will be covering me from the 1st of October... sorted?...NO!

On the 18th of September FNB Insurance Brokers gives me a courtesy call to ask why I was leaving them. I explained the story to them and asked (just to confirm again) if I will be paying anything at the end of the month... NOW THE ANSWER IS YES! After wasting an hour of screaming I was simply told that I was paying in arrears and I will be paying THEM AND MY NEW INSURANCE at the end of September.

If they informed me in ADVANCE (at least 2 months) I would of been able to prepare for the extra financial hit, but no this is NOT THEIR PROBLEM. They get their money and that is ALL THAT MATTERS.

Thanks FNB Insurance brokers... I will be thinking of you while I am eating 2 minute noodles next month.
