Loan period extended

Last year i took a loan of R7500 over 12 months with FNB and i have been paying R509 every month for the loan and to my suprice when i wanted to settle the loan today i was told that the settlement amount is R6100 and i wondered how could this be if i have been paying the loan for months now and the consultant tod me that i had taken the loan over 39 months wich was even more shocking, i mean why would i want to pay a loan of 7000 over 3 years when i can do it over 12 months, i was then told that an investigation will be underway and that i must call after 5 working days, i am very disappointed with fnb that after over 10 years with them i get to experience things like this, mi demand that this issue be sorted as it is costing me a lot, i did the application using cellphone banking, i am deeply hurt and disturbed by this, i am fighting to get out of debt and then to be told such bad news.
