I have received appalling service from one consultant at ABSA Greenstone.
I received a call from this consultant at the branch who was tasked to
assist me with vehicle finance, as I closed my account with the bank because
they declined my finance for "affordability" even though I provided valid proof
that I could afford it. Apparently, the NCA only allows a person to pay 25% of their
income on a car, even if you want to spend more on a car and can prove you can afford
it, it cannot be done. The consultant said he can do a joint finance for my wife's
and my combinable income. I was given an amount "we" will qualify for. I search two weeks
for a suitable vehicle, constantly providing the consultant with feedback. When I finally
get a quote from a dealership, after 3 weeks of searching, he tells me "a joint finance is not
possible". I have been misled, given incorrect information, and emotionally drained by the
consultant at the branch. The bank should have been upfront with me from the beginning.
Service like this is not on from such a big company like Barclays/ABSA.. The branches
incompetence needs to be dealt with.
