High bank fees

I was an ABSA staff member untill August 2010. And have made numerous calls to the contact centre to have My account changed to from staff to normal. It is really a mission to make such a small change. It took ABSA 5 months to just change my AVAF account details.
When my account was eventually changed at a teller while making a cash deposit. I found that my monthly bank charges amounted - R500 a months. My bank charges for the past 6 months have totalled over R2500. Just BANK CHARGES. for a normal Gold Cheque account.
Is this my payback for leaving ABSA form greener pastures?
This is ridiculous. I need proof of the document (there is none) where i give me permission to pay such high bank fees. If not I am going to the banking ombudsman.
