Card expired - not renewing it - money on the card

My virgin credit card expired in July 2013. i called them and they said they will call me back. apparently i wont being getting a new card for the way the account has been handled. how has the card been handled... no reason.
What happens to the balance available on that card. I paid in extra last month...
