I called Standard Bank Life Cover to obtain a quote for a life cover if I was interested - they advised that I have to answer a set of questions in order to obtain the correct monthly fee. The 45 minute phone call eventually arrived at an amount payable. I was told that if I was interested it could start from June 2013 as long as I competed the forms and sent them back ASAP. Little did I know they had already logged me on their system and started debiting fees from my account. They fail to state that THEY SELL YOU THE PACKAGE OVER THE PHONE and you cannot simply enquire. It is a disgrace that they take advantage of people without you even knowing. They fail to explain fully their intentions, its a money making for the call centre personnel to receive incentives from the amount of people they falsely sign up! How many other people's accounts are being debited without them even realising what it is for.

I used to think so highly of Standard Bank but that has definitely changed
