No interest in trying to keep a client

After being a customer for 16 years in total and having an excellent risk profile no one in auto and general could give me a satisfactory answer how i get charged a premium of R800 per month for a 2004 Ford Fiesta at the age of 37 when the industry quotes average around R450 based on the same risk profile, including limited business use. I pay even more than people with a similar profile or worse and 11 years younger than me. It was explained to me that the annual increases are automated and it is my responsibility to call in and see if I can get a better premium? After all these years Auto and General is willing to lose me as a client as they are not willing to try and match quotes from competitors. Subsequently I have had no option but to cancel my insurance from end January 2013. Even if you ask to get called by a manager, they get anyone from a call centre with very minimal experience to phone you back. I feel hard done by and have to cut my losses and move on, but want to save other people the same heartache. I still wonder if I had to phone into Auto and General as a new client via Hippo if my quote will be more competitive - might still try it one day in future ;)
