I have a bond with Standard Bank and wanted to cancel my building insurance on the bond as I already have other insurance in place for this. I phoned the home loans department and they asked that I send a fax through requesting cancellation of the building insurance on my bond, which I accordingly did. I specifically phoned early in the month before my first bond payment was to go off beginning August. They assured me that it will be done in time. I sent the fax on 18/07/13. On 19/07/13 I followed up with them whether they received the fax and they said for some reason they haven't received it, can I please e-mail the fax. I e-mailed the fax on 19/07/13 and followed on today on 22/07/13 to see whether the fax was received. I was sent to various departments and ended up BACK at home loans. The person helping me (LITERALLY after holding on for half an hour), said because there were two bond account holders both account holders must sign. In the first place, this was not relayed to me first time around, secondly, the other account holder is overseas!! By the time the second account holder sends through the required letter it will be too late!! Worst service ever!!
