Excuses not to pay out

I have recently took out motor insurance with miway. The initial service when taking out the policy was great, obviously coz they wanted the business. My car headlight was damaged and I submitted a claim, which was not dealt with urgency, 4 days later when I persisted for an answer, I was told my claim was pre authorised, I was given an amount that was going to be authorised. The amount they authorised was incorrect and for the wrong part, when I querying this, I was told a bigger amount needs to be authorised for the correct part.
Now I receive a call saying my that they need to validate with my previous insurance companies. Which was fine, they call 2 of my previous insurances that I had my current car insured with, but that is not enough, miway is requesting insurance companies that I was with going back 8 years??? really??? I have not even had this current car for 2 years. I see this as just excuses not to pay out my claim.
If the claim is pre authorised and 2 of my past insurance companies were contacted, why more proof? are they look for a loop hole not to pay me??? when sold the policy I was told miway has excellent service, but obviously it ends then the sell you the policy
