No feedback on compliant of system erro

I came in to apply for a credit card which I was going to use for some improvements. Knowing that I still had an existing account with you guys, I offered to settle the outstanding amount in full but I was duly informed that an option existed whereby I could apply for the credit card without having to actually settle the remaining amount out of my pocket, but that this amount would be deducted directly from the amount I would be getting on the credit card, so I chose that option. I received the card & went about using the card as per my requirements.
On the 23rd of February I received a sms saying that payment was due for the account that should have been settled when my credit card was activated. I the person with whom I dealt when applying for the card, I was informed that there had been a system error, and that my previous account was never settled.
Now it seems that I'm liable for both accounts & this amounts to almost R1000 per month, which is more than the amount I was told the repayments on the card would be. I feel that this is very unfair towards me, the consumer and I don't feel that I should be held accountable for this system error.
