Claim of 6 months ago prevent debit order change

I switched banks a month ago and my new financial institution did my debit order switching as well as the date on which my debit orders get deducted. All my debit orders was switched, except ABSA Life's Funeral Policy. I phoned today to ask whether there was a problem because the deduction has not been make on the night of the 1st of June. Previously my policy instalment was deducted on the 20th, but I was not worried as my new Bank have succeeded in changing all my other debit orders over as well as the dates. When I phoned ABSA Life today I was informed that No notification for any change has been received and also that my banking details can NOT be changed, neither could the due date be changed as there was still an "OPEN CLAIM" on the policy. I claimed on the policy for my dad who was a beneficiary in the end of November 2012 and the policy was paid out in 4 days time. HOW CAN THE CLAIM STILL BE OPEN IT IS 6 MONTHS LATER! In the mean time I requested info to pay in my arrears instalment manually and was told that it is not possible at all. Neither in a ABSA Branch or via internet banking which means that me and my family are not covered. SHOCKING AND UNACCEPTABLE!!!
