Student loan

I took a student loan for R25000 from FNB in 2009. I started paying back in December of that year and the first three instalments were about R1230 and this was adjusted to R721.16, which i paid until to date. I used to get statements but in the last two years i haven't received anything and my account is debited on a monthly basis. Last year in August i wanted to use my paid up house loan to settle the amount and i was told that the settlement amount is R12000. Today when i went to check my account i was told that i still owe R13000. When we calculated the amount that i have paid to date is more than R34000, I just want to have clarity on this issue and why i dont get statements.
