Brilliant roadside assistance with FNB Petrol card

Last Sunday night, I was driving my elderly parents (both in 80's) on the R26; the stretch from Ladybrand to Fouriesburg that follows the Lesotho border. For the first time ever my fathers well looked after Camry gave us problems; as darkness fell and I switched on the lights, I realized the battery is not charging. We checked everything possible but could not find an obvious fault like a broken fan belt, loose wiring or dirty battery terminals. We were stuck by the roadside, 100 km from home on a bitterly cold Sunday night. And not in a spot where one can leave a car unattended. My mind raced for solutions, none of whom were plausible, until my father mentioned he has a FNB Petrol card that includes AA roadside assistance. I phoned them, got through immediately and explained the situation. After a few minutes they phoned back, telling me a local agent would contact us. Had a phone call from Chico's Towing in Ficksburg less than five minutes later, who gave us an ETA, and arrived on the minute. Two hours later we were all safe at home, car included. Everyone involved was completely professional, FNB, AA and Chico's Towing. Thank you all so much! And it did not cost my father a cent
