I am currently staying in my aunt's house who is overseas and I am handling their affairs whilst they are abroad. The house was in arrears and owing and I was liasoning with Jito Khoza from Absa. I phoned him on the 21 January 2013 to get a settlement amount and on the same day I settled the account and he said we should get a letter from Absa stating that the account is settled. We received a letter from Absa stating that we still had a small balance owing. I phoned him on the 2 April 2013 and he said its interest that we need to pay. I told him that I will not pay any cent more to Absa as I had settled the account with the amount HE gave and HE said the account is settled and we must wait for a settlement letter. He said he would follow up with Absa on how to deal with this small amount owing (as he didnt mention this to me the day I settled) and he'll get back to me. I confirm that I sent him a follow up email dated 19 April 2013 and no reply from him. I refuse to pay this "small amount" as I did settle the account with the amount given by Jito Khoza! I also bank with Absa and if this is how customers are treated I might as well go to other banks who treat their clients better!
