Have to pay penalty for change of booking

I booked a flight today, paid and confirmed and within 2 minutes I tried to change the booking to a day later. Kulula wants to charge R342 for changing this booking and the ink isn't even dry yet. Is this not too steep? I understand there is an extra charge for flight changes but with the 2 minutes difference should the price be so high?
