NO SPECIAL MEALS ON LOCAL FLIGHTS

I've just booked a flight on BA from Johannesburg to Durban and return to Johannesburg for next week (23 and 25 January 2013). I requested a special HALAAL meal and was told that no special meals are allowed in economy class only in business class. I would like to know why the discrimination?

I'm EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with this and would like this rectified before my travel next week.
