Spamming with attitude

I received an phone call today from a female call centre agent saying she was from Velocity (a call centre) and calling me on behalf of Double Deals. I told her I was not a customer of Double Deals and asked how she had obtained my details. She said from Blue Label Telecoms. When I asked her how Blue Label telecoms obtained my details she became extremely aggressive and rude. I could not hear most of what she said as she was a particularly poor enunciator and mumbled badly but the message was that for as long as I had accounts I could expect to receive these phone calls.

It's bad enough that BLD makes a business out of aggregating public information and flogging it to companies with desperate sales targets (whilst scraping very close to the legal edge of the Protection of Private Information Act). But it is even worse to have scripted responses of this nature. Not only do you interrupt my day with unsolicited phone calls you then subject me to rudeness and disrespect when I ask a completely acceptable question.

I am not sure where my cel number appears publically and would appreciate a response as to what public record it was obtained from.
