I called MTN today and spoke to a lady by the name of Sithembiso regarding where my airtime was going. She told me of a service that I had not subscribed to from and said they have been deducting R20 a day from my airtime for ringtones and wallpapers. Smartcall solutions is the company at [URL Removed] . I called them and spoke with a young lady named Yvonne. She told me that I entered their address on my phone to get to their website and after reading their terms and conditions I agreed to this subscription. Firstly, I have a prepaid line and the subscription to this service is R20 a day for Rigntones and Wallpaper. I dont care how many cute kitten pictures are out there, none could convince me to part with R20 a day. I have never used the service since my number was subscribed without my permission and I am still waiting to be emailed the proof of subscription as Yvonne promised. MTN is to be held responsible because they are allowing this to happen to their customers. I know business is not going too well right now but if they think selling out their customers is the way to boost profits then I'd rather port my number to Vodacom. This kind of practice is just unacceptable.
