Xperia Z screen cracking: what does Sony admit?

I am interested in purchasing a Sony Xperia Z smart phone. However according to various web reports including Hello Peter, there is a problem with the screen cracking spontaneously. This would seem to be associated with overheating of the phone. There doesn't seem to be a public response from Sony on the matter. Kerry responds on Hello Peter saying that she appreciates the users frustration and will email them directly. However that avoids allowing the rest of us to find out what Sony's position is on the matter. Can Kerry respond to me directly with reasons as to why I should still consider this phone with what appears to be an undisclosed manufacturing defect. Alternatively can the users that reported cracked phones respond with some details of what Sony did for them.
