Cell C
Handed over to collections company

I had ported my cell number form cell c to vodacom 21 months ago, last week i received a letter from pholosa 1> due to non response to previous correspondence, - of which i have no knowledge, i have outstanding account. I contacted them to find out according to cell c i have outstanding account. I called cell c, according to there legal dept. they had made 1 attempt, to contact me on a that i ve not had in 8 years. However they have a current e-mail address, the cell phone number taht i ported and postal address. My question is how was i allowed to port my number with a balance owing, and is just 1 call to a number that i dont have any more enough to hand me over to a very un helpful collection agency.
