Incorrect info on cancelling of contract

I went to the one MTN shop in Cape Gate on 19/04 to enquire about cancelling my contract & giving up my no. I spoke to an agent & told him that I no longer want my number & that I plan to go to another service provider. He said my contract was due to come to an end on 19/05, I should then come in on the 20th to cancel the contract. So I asked are you sure, his response was yes, that's the new rule. I went back to cancel my contract on 20/05. A different agent had me fill in a form & then told me that on 20/06 and 20/07 the debit order will still go off but after 20/07, no more. So I explained to her that I got a different version told to me by the other agent. I then went ahead and canceled my service & went back to another MTN shop in Cape Gate. There another agent told me that I could go over to prepaid & could end my service anytime. I didn't go over to prepaid as I still had airtime on my cell which I paid for as the debit order of the 20th of June was already deducted. No offer of apology or attempt to rectify the matter. I went to the bank to cancel the debit order & received a sms 7/06/2013 to say that my service has been suspended due to an overdue account.
