After the terrible service i have had with Cellc over the past 4 years I finally decided to cancel my contract. I gave the necessary 30 days notice at the end of November Last year. I called to confirm that my letter of cancellation has been received and was confirmed that it has. Now all of a sudden Cellc is calling me asking me for R1314 for the remainder of the months left on my contract. I refused to pay these amounts but received an SMS Stating that I have committed to pay the amount specified and my contract is still active to this day. I was told that Cellc tried to contact me but i failed to response, when i called Cellc back i was told that I am not allowed to speak to the person who tried to call me.

Know your rights. Consumers can cancel their contracts before the contractual period is over and the supplier can only request a penalty fee not more than 10 percent of the outstanding amount. This is part of the Consumer Protection act which Cellc has forgotten exists.

I have contacted my Lawyers and will be seeing them on Monday.

I expected better than this from a major service provider.
