Price match promise not always true

I went to Dion today to purchase a new Samsung Galaxy S3 after my previous one was 2 days ago. Obviously with the prices, I would prefer purchasing it on my Dion/Game credit facility.
On enquiry whether they will price match the phone on another quote which I got, I was informed that only if it is a Vodacom supplier.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong here. I do NOT want to purchase a new cellphone CONTRACT. If that was the case I would understand that it is supplier (Vodacom) specific. I want to buy the device only.
The same would be true if I wanted to purchase a laptop which just happened to be on offer with a data contract. I could still purchase the item stand-alone.
This left me a bit frustrated as Vodacom is basically dictating the price which Dion offers and Dion can not hold up their offer which states that they will beat any price??
