Poor Customer Service

I had purchased a pocket of potatoes for R49.99 last week Saturday, it was advertised as soft cooking.
Yesterday I opened the pocket and it is a real waste as all are water potatoes. I had use 3 out of the pocket but had misplaced the receipt. I enquired if i could return it to be told i need the receipt. Surely the company should be able to identify their product and packaging?
