Myself and my wife wanted to buy a flat screen tv on 27 December 2013 we visited Hi Fi store Clearwater. Entering the store some of the staff stood at a counter near the entrance. The one staff member was talking in a very loud voice and made jokes as if it was a circus we were about to enter. We went to the tv dept and later to the camera section. The above man was still going on in a loud voice and making jokes not respecting anyone or any customers. I could hardly hear my wife speak. I went to the Staff member and asked him kindly in Afrikaans to please speak softer. He came towards me very aggressively and said - WHAT LANGUAGE IS THAT? THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY AND IT IS MY DEMOCRATIC RIGHT SPEAK AS I LIKE, WHATS YOUR PROBLEM? I was shocked that I have been verbally abused by a staff member. I feel very humiliated by this being verbally abused in front of Hi Fi staff and other customers. Afrikaans is one of the official languages of S.A. Please watch the cctv footage. I am positive if it was a white person speaking like that to a black customer he was fired immediately.
