Bait Marketing and Misleading Quote

Two months ago I went shopping for a wooden glass cabinet. When chatting to the store owner, she told me she could order me what I was looking for with her next shipment (well she was getting 1 anyway and I could book it). She told me it would be about R 4, 000 (and due to exchange rate it could vary between R 3600 and R 4200). I paid R100 deposit and she wrote on my deposit slip "glass show cabinet - /-R4200."

It finally arrived this last week and I went to view it to be told the price is now R 6900. I was so shocked and she used exchange rate and petrol prices as an excuse for a 64% increase in price (at worst the Dollar as moved out 5.2% over the period).

When my husband went to try reason with them she blatently and tried to say the cabinet is much bigger than what we ordered. She clearly messed up the numbers and is not willing to compromise AT ALL, we even offered to pay a bit more.

I am disgusted, what happened to the client is right?? It's not like I have made anything up.
