Unhappy that I wasn't informed: stove connections

I purchased a stove and a front-loader washing machine from House & Home last Sunday. I was asked about the stove connection by the sales lady. She told me that oh that was fine.

Everything went okay until I received the stove and my husband read the instructions. There was no cord included with the stove, and an electrician is required to install.

I phoned an electrician who told me to phone the salesperson and ask if the connection was supposed to be included, and if not, can I purchase one from them. I did so, and was then told that no, it was not included and I could buy one from Builders' Warehouse.

I am irritated because as an obvious first time new stove buyer, I had no idea that I would have to go through all this trouble. It would have helped a lot if the salesperson had helped me with this information at the start.

I'm assuming that in the race for commission, any information that would jeopordise the sale is not communicated to the customer! (I would have had a much better experience if I'd been given this info at the beginning of the sale, and would have been able to anticipate these extra costs and inconveniences.)
