In December 2012, I purchased a Renault Scenic Clutch kit from Midas Ballito, I was not told that there was to be a change in management of that store and therefore any guarantee would fall away.
A week ago I experienced problems with the car once again and have been without a car since. The workshop that was repairing the car asked that I send to them the invoice for the clutch kit as they had a query from the supplier of a part needed to fix my car.
As I live in Queensburgh (70kms away from Ballito} and am without a car, and living in a guest house temporarily, I called Midas and asked for assistance. I spoke to Deon, the store manager who advised that due to the store changing ownerdhip.all records have been taken way by the previous owner. When I enquired whether any guarantee would still be honoured, I was told that any claims would have to be taken up with the previous owner.
Are we as consumers not covered when making a purchase at a franchisee store.? I think that this is unfair business practise, as had i been advised of this policy I would have chosen to buy elsewhere.
