Why run a promotion when your staff have no idea

I went in to clicks in Boulders Midrand about a month ago, to ask about the promotion advertised with regards to joining the baby club and receiving the free goodie bag. I was told then I need to purchase baby products to the value of R200 I think, and I will receive the good bag was also told that I could use my husbands clicks card and when I make the purchase I can join the baby club.
Yesterday I go to sandton city clicks, and I bought baby goods to the value of R726, I asked about the promotions no one at the cashiers counter knew what I was talking about. It's was embarrassing as everyone was going on about no they don't have free gifts etc. The line was long and I was already annoyed because I hate when I have to tell staff about a promotion they have and they don't know anything about it.
Why then run a promotion? Staff should be informed of all promotions you have. I don't see the point.
Will definitely not be shopping at clicks again. I feel the cashier her name was Ncumisa think that is spelt correct, should have made more of an effort to find out, she asked all the other cashiers in her own language which is annoying for someone who does not understand.
